Our Story

HVK Children’s Foundation is an emerging nonprofit founded in 2016 and is registered in Massachusetts. We are based in Worcester, Massachusetts  and West Africa, Liberia. We aim to break barriers to socioeconomic and social determinant factors that pose as a harm to human development through The Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child Model and the Coordinated School Health Program. Thus, we work in the fields of education, public health, and social work providing evidence-based services that includes the monitoring and evaluation of programs targeted to reach low-income women, children and families.

Currently, we provide school-based health and education programs at the school level. We have three programs to date, WASH in Schools, Project REACH, and Sexuality Education Risk & Violence (SERV) program. This position targets our education program, Project REACH.

Description of Project REACH:

Project Reach is our first education program to be implemented. It aims to assist low-resource schools to strengthen the quality of learning by the donation of tablet laptops with an offline education portal referred to as the Global Sustainable Aid Project (GSAP) portal. The offline technology comes with a built-in reading and STEM education resources, as well as specific subject matter topics, Khan Academy, Rachael Initiatives, UNESCO for resource-low schools and more. The entire system is 64 gbs; for schools without electricity, the system couples with a solar panel and car battery. Since July 2018, Project REACH has been launched at two schools in Liberia, and awaiting to be implemented at four more schools. Teachers have received 5-days of introductory training and during the academic year will receive four additional on-going training.

Who We are Looking For:

We want a dedicated student or a team of students to help upgrade/remodel the portal to be more user-friendly. We want to move some of the content around, add new cultural sensitive content to make it more user-friendly, and to include a login that could track usage on the site. The user login will enable us to collect data on date & time, frequency, and sites commonly used by teachers and students. Other qualifications are:
